The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Dimensity 7400 are two popular chipsets targeting lower-mid-range smartphones.
Both arrived in February 2025 and are built on TSMC's 4nm process, but they differ significantly in architecture and performance.

Spec Sheet Comparison
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 features a 1+3+4 CPU core configuration: one Cortex-A720 at 2.3 GHz, three Cortex-A720 at 2.2 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 at 1.8 GHz.
The Dimensity 7400 uses a 4+4 setup with four Cortex-A78 at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz.
For graphics, the Snapdragon chip packs an Adreno 810 GPU with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, while the Dimensity 7400 has a Mali-G615 MP2 GPU with MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming Technology.
Both chips support LPDDR5 RAM up to 3.2 GHz, UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage, and up to 200MP single camera.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 includes a Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP, while the Dimensity 7400 uses a MediaTek Imagiq 950 ISP with Google Ultra HDR support.
Benchmark Scores
Benchmark tests were performed on the Realme P3 (Snapdragon 6 Gen 4) and iQOO Z10R (Dimensity 7400).
In Geekbench 6, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 scored 1092 single-core and 3094 multi-core, while the Dimensity 7400 scored 1042 and 3014 respectively.

That's a 4.8% lead in single-core and 2.6% in multi-core for the Snapdragon chip.
On AnTuTu v11, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 achieved 981,557 points, compared to 925,061 for the Dimensity 7400.
The Snapdragon chip posted a 15% higher CPU score and 10% higher GPU score.
The Dimensity 7400 had a slight edge in memory and UX scores, but the differences were marginal.
Key Differences
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 uses newer Cortex-A720 cores, which contribute to its higher benchmark performance despite lower clock speeds.
The Dimensity 7400 relies on older Cortex-A78 cores but runs at higher frequencies.
For gaming, the Snapdragon chip includes Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, which upscales scenes to 4K with minimal power draw.

The Dimensity 7400 focuses on consistent frame rates and improved network connectivity via HyperEngine.
In camera capabilities, both chips support 200MP single camera and 4K video at 30fps.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 offers zero shutter lag for multiple camera combinations, while the Dimensity 7400 adds Google Ultra HDR support.
Connectivity-wise, the Dimensity 7400 has a higher peak 5G speed of 3.27 Gbps, compared to 2.9 Gbps on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4.
However, the Snapdragon chip supports mmWave, which the Dimensity lacks. Both include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4.
Which Chip is Better?
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 emerges as the stronger performer overall.
Its newer CPU cores and Adreno GPU with Elite Gaming features deliver higher benchmark scores and a smoother gaming experience.
