Department of Defense has released a video showing American airstrikes destroying multiple Iranian military sites.

The footage, posted by U. S.

Central Command (CENTCOM), depicts aircraft leveling the targets, leaving only clouds of smoke.

According to CENTCOM, the strikes on Thursday also hit coastal radar sites.

The action was retaliation for an alleged Iranian drone attack on a Singapore-flagged commercial cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

The attack violated a ceasefire that had been holding, CENTCOM stated, and threatened freedom of navigation in a critical shipping lane.

military continues to escort commercial vessels through the strait.
