This comparison focuses on the Asus ROG Strix G16 (2026) and Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 11 (2026), two leading contenders under $1,800.

Brand Overview

Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) has a long history in gaming hardware. Its lineup includes Strix for raw performance, Zephyrus for slim designs, and Flow for convertible flexibility.

Lenovo Legion has built a strong reputation since 2016 for reliable gaming laptops at competitive prices.

The series ranges from budget-friendly to high-end, featuring Coldfront cooling with vapor chambers and optimized airflow.

Asus ROG Strix G16 (2026)

The Strix G16 is the most accessible 2026 ROG laptop under $1,800.

It comes with Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 GPUs.

The RTX 5060 model starts at around $1,599.

The 16-inch display offers 2.5K (2560×1600) resolution at 300Hz refresh rate, up from 240Hz in 2025.

Asus calls it a Nebula Display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and anti-reflective coating for reduced glare.

Cooling is a standout feature: a multi-layer vapor chamber extends to the rear, combined with Tri-Fan Technology and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on both CPU and GPU.

This keeps noise lower than expected.

Buyers should note that base RTX 5060 models may use a 1080p IPS panel at some retailers, while Asus's own store offers the 2.5K Nebula Display.

Starting price: around $1,599 (RTX 5060, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD).
