Huawei has officially announced its next major product event, scheduled for September 7.
The event, named 'HarmonyOS 7 | Huawei Mate XT 2 and All-Scenario New Product Launch Event', will showcase the Mate XT 2 tri-fold phone alongside HarmonyOS 7.
The Mate XT 2 has been the subject of rumors for months, with leaks suggesting a Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and enhanced on-device AI capabilities.
The tri-fold is also expected to feature a redesigned hinge to reduce the visible crease and may adopt UFG glass for improved durability.
Color options reportedly include Mystic Black, Auspicious Red, Crimson Purple, and a white finish. However, Huawei has not confirmed these specifications yet.
Upgrades from the Original Mate XT
The first-generation Mate XT featured a 10.2-inch display when unfolded and a body just 3.6mm thick at its thinnest point.
Despite its high price, it reportedly sold over 400,000 units.
For the Mate XT 2, Huawei must maintain thinness while enhancing the durability of the three-hinge design, a critical factor for a device with such a large folding screen.
HarmonyOS 7 Takes Center Stage
HarmonyOS 7, officially introduced in June, will be a key focus of the event.
The software is expected to handle multiple windows and resize apps across three different screen layouts seamlessly.
Huawei has not yet released an official specification sheet, leaving most hardware details unconfirmed. The September 7 event will provide more clarity.
