A new leak suggests that most major smartphone brands are developing wide-screen foldables, following Huawei's lead.
Tipster Digital Chat Station shared the details on Weibo, listing the companies working on phones that open into a shorter, wider display instead of the usual tall shape.
Huawei and Samsung Lead the Way
Huawei is furthest along, already selling the Pura X and its larger version, the Pura X Max.
Samsung has also released a wide foldable with the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8, while offering a tall book-style variant under the Z Fold 8 Ultra branding.
What's Coming from Other Brands
Xiaomi is working on the Mix Fold 5, with leaked images showing a 4:3 display, wider than its past foldables.
Apple is also preparing its first foldable, expected to feature a 7.6-inch inner screen and a smaller cover display, with a launch around September.
Honor's foldable is said to be in testing with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip and a 7,000mAh battery.
Oppo's Find N7 is tipped for a Q1 2027 launch with a 6,500mAh battery.
Vivo is reportedly still exploring this category.
None of these details are confirmed, and launch plans can change.
But the leak shows how many companies are now working on this design, turning what started with one Huawei phone into a format most major brands are building toward.
