Samsung's foldable lineup could expand to five models in 2027, according to a new ETnews report citing industry sources.
The company currently offers four foldables, including the trifold and the new wide-fold design.
Two of the upcoming models are said to share the wide-format design that has driven sales of the Galaxy Z Fold8.
Reported 2027 Foldable Lineup
The lineup reportedly includes the Galaxy Z Fold9 (wide-format), a second unnamed wide-format Fold, the Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra (traditional tall shape), the Galaxy Z Flip9, and the Galaxy Z TriFold2.
This shift toward wide foldables follows the Galaxy Z Fold8, which replaced its tall 21:9-style body with a shorter 4:3 inner screen.
The Fold8 reportedly accounted for 70% of pre-orders within the Galaxy Z8 series, with the lineup achieving 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea—a 39% jump year-over-year.
Given this success, Samsung is reportedly planning a second wide model rather than treating the Fold8 as a one-off.
The new wide Fold is said to target a shape better suited for video, closer to widescreen, instead of the near-square 4:3 screen.
The project is still in early stages, so display size, hinge design, and pricing have not been finalized.
