Victor Willis, the legendary lead singer of the disco group Village People, has died at the age of 74.
His wife, Karen, announced his passing on his Facebook page, stating that Willis died Monday after a short but aggressive illness.
The exact cause of death was not disclosed.
Willis was the theatrical frontman for the group and co-wrote many of their biggest hits, including 'YMCA,' 'Macho Man,' 'Go West,' and 'In the Navy.'
In the 1970s, the band rose to fame with their macho personas, often performing in costumes like police and naval officer uniforms.
Willis left the group in 1980 and became involved in a legal dispute over copyright issues related to the songs he had written.
He returned to Village People in 2017 and performed 'YMCA' at a pre-inauguration rally for President Trump in January 2025.
