Lionel Richie was rushed to a hospital after falling ill onstage Wednesday night during his concert at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The singer cut his performance short after telling the audience he felt "dizzy" and "strange."

He even sat down on a stage platform while performing "Dancing on the Ceiling," a high-energy song he normally wouldn't sit through.
Sources close to Richie said paramedics met him backstage and he was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

They noted the move was a precautionary measure.
During the show, Richie kept his spirits up, joking that the best thing to do in such a situation is to "sit your ass down."

After he left the stage, his saxophonist, Dino Soldo, informed the crowd that Richie was unwell and could not continue the concert.
Wednesday's show was the launch of Richie's joint tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

The tour is scheduled to hit 26 venues, with the next stop Friday night in Chicago.
