Google's Pixel 10 series is facing a frustrating bug that prevents users from replying to emails in Gmail.

The issue occurs when the AI-powered "Help me write" feature, driven by Gemini, blocks the on-screen keyboard from appearing.

Reports from Android Authority and numerous Reddit posts indicate that Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold owners are affected.

Tapping the reply field triggers the AI suggestion box instead of Gboard, leaving users unable to type.

On the Pixel 10 Pro XL, a workaround exists: tapping the keyboard hide button and repeatedly tapping the reply field may bring up the keyboard.

However, on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the cursor disappears and taps do nothing, forcing reliance on the AI tool.

The bug appears linked to recent updates and Google's push to promote the AI writing assistant. Normally optional, "Help me write" now overrides regular typing on these devices.

Android Authority could not reproduce the issue on other Android phones like the vivo X300 FE or OnePlus 15, and the iOS Gmail app works fine.

The problem emerged after Google's June 2026 Pixel Drop, which introduced Android 17 and deeper AI features to the Pixel 10 series.

While Gemini aims to simplify tasks, this glitch highlights challenges in integrating AI with core functions.

Users are seeking fixes online. Some have found temporary relief by disabling certain Gemini options in Gmail settings.
