Oliver Tree's family is nearing the completion of arrangements to return his body to the United States following his tragic death in Brazil, TMZ has learned.

A representative for the singer-songwriter's family confirmed that legal counsel has been retained to assist with the repatriation process after the helicopter crash that killed him.

While the process is not yet finalized, sources indicate that progress is being made and the return is imminent.

Oliver Tree died last weekend when the helicopter he was aboard collided with another aircraft. He was among six people who lost their lives in the accident.

In the days following his passing, his mother, Christine Begin Nickell, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, stating that her son "made this world a better place."

Others close to Oliver, including his ex-girlfriend Melanie Martinez and his current girlfriend Fiona Chernavskaya, also took to social media to honor his memory.

Oliver Tree was 32 years old.
