During a recent briefing, Samsung executive Park Yong-in, President and Head of the System LSI Business, confirmed that development of the Exynos 2700 is proceeding without setbacks.

He stated the company wants to use it in top-tier smartphones, though specific models were not named.

The chip is widely expected to power the Galaxy S27 series, launching in early 2027.

This is one of the strongest official hints about the Exynos 2700 so far. It will likely compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Samsung is expected to continue its dual-chip strategy: Exynos in some regions, Snapdragon in others.

Technical improvements

The Exynos 2700 introduces a side-by-side (SBS) layout, placing the processor and DRAM on the same substrate.

A special Heat Path Block covers both components, improving thermal management.

This design is expected to deliver up to 30-40% higher memory bandwidth, better efficiency, and more consistent performance under load.

Samsung has faced challenges with previous Exynos chips, including manufacturing yields and overheating.

The new chip is built on an enhanced 2nm process, aiming to close the gap with Qualcomm in single-core speed while potentially excelling in multi-core and sustained tasks.

High manufacturing costs and Qualcomm's strong ecosystem remain obstacles.
