Ayaneo has officially confirmed the development of a new retro handheld console, the Pocket Micro 2.
The company is calling it a “second-generation powerhouse” and using the slogan “REMAKE classic, full evolution.”

The announcement follows the original Pocket Micro and Pocket DMG, both launched globally on the same day.
Those devices drew inspiration from classic Nintendo consoles like the GameBoy and GameBoy Micro, but packed modern hardware inside.
What to Expect from the Pocket Micro 2
Ayaneo has not yet revealed the official design or full specifications for the Pocket Micro 2. However, the first-generation model offers a baseline for expectations.

The original Pocket Micro launched in July 2024 with a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, a 3.5-inch IPS true-color display, and a compact body about 63mm wide.
It started at 1,299 yuan (around $180).
That model also featured a 2,600mAh battery inside a minimalist, ergonomic shell with rounded edges.
Its four shoulder buttons used touch-sensitive technology, allowing activation from almost any position.

The L1/R1 and L2/R2 buttons were separated by a divider, with the L2/R2 pair raised slightly higher and designed to be swappable.
Given Ayaneo’s history of quickly releasing new variants and limited editions, the Pocket Micro 2 is likely to refine the existing formula rather than overhaul it.
Possible upgrades include improved internals, a sharper display, or a redesigned control layout.
