Apple has officially revealed which devices will support its upcoming major software updates, announced at WWDC 2026.

The new releases include improvements to Apple Intelligence, a smarter Siri AI experience, and a refreshed design.

However, support varies across product categories.

iOS 27 compatibility

iOS 27 will be available on all iPhone models that currently support iOS 26. This includes devices from the iPhone 11 lineup to the latest iPhone 17 series.

Also supported are the iPhone 16e, iPhone Air, and iPhone SE (2nd generation and newer). The broad support list gives many users another year without needing to upgrade.

iPadOS 27 drops older models

Apple is trimming support for several older iPads.

Devices losing compatibility include the 2018 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the 8th-generation iPad, the 5th-generation iPad mini, and the 3rd-generation iPad Air.

Newer models remain supported, including iPad Pro models from the 2nd-generation 11-inch and 4th-generation 12.9-inch onward, as well as newer iPad Air, iPad, and iPad mini models.

macOS 27 Golden Gate ends Intel support

macOS 27 Golden Gate will only be available on Macs with Apple silicon.

This includes recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, the Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and the new MacBook Neo.

Intel Macs will no longer receive major macOS upgrades.

watchOS 27 limited to newer models

watchOS 27 is more selective, supporting only the Apple Watch Series 10 and 11, Ultra 2 and Ultra 3, and the latest SE model.

Several older watches that received previous updates will not be compatible.

The software updates are expected to arrive this fall. Supported devices will gain new AI-powered features and performance improvements.
