Xiaomi has launched its 17T series in China, including the 17T and 17T Pro, marking the first time in years the T-series arrives in the mainland market.

While both global and Chinese models look similar, key differences exist in battery, storage, and software.

Battery Capacity Differs

The global Xiaomi 17T Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the standard global 17T has 6,500mAh.

In China, both the 17T and 17T Pro come with a 7,000mAh cell.

Xiaomi says the new battery uses the highest silicon content in company history, enabling more energy in a lighter, compact design.

The battery retains 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.

Charging speeds are identical across regions: the 17T Pro supports 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 50W PPS fast charging.

The standard 17T offers 67W wired charging.

RAM and Storage Variations

The Chinese 17T Pro tops out at 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The global version offers 12GB RAM with 1TB storage — double the capacity but 4GB less RAM.

Which is better depends on usage.

Heavy local storage users may prefer the 1TB global model, while multitaskers might benefit from the extra RAM in the Chinese variant.

Both versions share the same MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip (3nm process) for the Pro model, and Dimensity 8500 Ultra for the standard 17T.

Display, Camera, and Design Are Identical

The 17T Pro features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate; the standard 17T has a 6.59-inch screen at 120Hz.

Camera setups are identical: a 50MP main sensor (Light Fusion 950), 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and 12MP ultrawide lens, all Leica-branded.

Both run Android 16 with HyperOS 3. However, the Chinese version lacks Google services by default, requiring manual installation that may not work smoothly.

Pricing and Import Considerations

In Europe, the 17T Pro starts at €999 (12GB/512GB), while the standard 17T starts at €749 (12GB/256GB).

In China, the series launches at a special price from 2,999 yuan (~$415).

Importing the Chinese version may offer extra RAM or larger battery on the standard model, but downsides include no Google services, potential network compatibility issues, and bootloader unlocking restrictions requiring a Chinese Mi account.
