Oppo has officially introduced ColorOS 17 at its developer conference in China.
The new Android skin brings AI capabilities, performance upgrades, and a rollout plan for Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme devices.
New Features and Major Upgrades
ColorOS 17 introduces Fluid Design for consistent visuals, animations, and touch feedback across the system.
The Aurora Engine integrates with the rendering architecture, while Fluid Animation manages transitions.
Oppo claims the Polar Light Engine reduces app start-up and runtime memory by 25% and cuts rendering workload by up to 30%.
The Tidal Engine learns app usage frequency, preferences, duration, and intent to schedule system resources.
It also features memory-retention capabilities to keep background apps available.
According to Oppo, the Tidal Engine delivers 55.6% improved background app retention, 35% improved launch stability, 50% faster scrolling in third-party photo galleries, 30% faster mini-program launch load, and 15% faster app jump speed.
AI and Connectivity Enhancements
ColorOS 17 adds an AI Photo Editor that can remove unwanted objects, reduce motion blur, and adjust colors and tones.
It recommends editing commands and templates, and includes a Reference Image Replication feature to apply colors, lighting, or skin tone from one image to another.
The AI Memory Gallery uses smart photo compilation and AI copywriting to turn random pictures into structured photo blogs, or Plogs.
Oppo also highlighted Album Direct Connection, which links third-party cameras and NAS devices so users can view footage without using local storage.
The upgraded AI Notes allows users to listen and take notes simultaneously during meetings.
Users can import books, videos, and ideas with one click and build structured knowledge notes.
AI Notes also supports creating an editable information overview diagram with sharing formats, identifying viewpoints, and helping users recognize thoughts and blind spots.
Oppo AI now works with Oppo earphones to translate the other person’s language into the user’s ear in real time, while broadcasting the user’s expression through the phone speaker.
The Heytap assistant, also known as Breeno or Xiao Bu Assistant, manages personal affairs through Xiao Bu Space.
