Xiaomi has introduced a new coffee machine in China that moves away from capsules entirely.

The Mijia Smart Italian Semi-Automatic Coffee Maker Pro is priced at 4,999 yuan, roughly $745.

Unlike Xiaomi's cheaper capsule models, this machine is built for whole coffee beans. It combines grinding, dosing, extraction, and milk frothing into a single unit.

The product was developed for Xiaomi by Ningbo Kunling Technology. It targets users who want more control over the brewing process.

Grinding and Brewing Technology

A built-in grinder measures coffee grounds to 0.1 grams, removing the need for a separate kitchen scale.

Xiaomi also added a plasma-based anti-static system to reduce static and keep grounds from sticking together.

For brewing, the machine uses two separate water pumps and heating blocks. This lets it extract coffee and steam milk without waiting for one process to finish first.

Hot and cold water paths are separated, so hot espresso and cold extraction do not affect each other's temperature.

Five NTC temperature sensors monitor different parts of the system, including the brew head.

A PID temperature control system uses that data to keep water within the target range during extraction.

The machine relies on an imported ULKA pump, also found in Xiaomi's portable coffee machine.

It can reach up to 19 bar of pressure. Xiaomi says it can make more than 10 cups continuously without a noticeable drop in performance.

Automated Milk Frothing and App Features

Milk preparation is automated as well.

Users can select cow's milk or different types of plant-based milk, and the machine adjusts the frothing process to produce the desired texture.

There are nine adjustable settings covering things such as grind size and milk temperature. The Xiaomi Home app includes hundreds of preset coffee recipes.

For beginners, Xiaomi added a guided "first cup" tutorial in the app. It walks users through grinding, tamping, extraction, milk frothing, and cleaning step by step.

The Mijia Smart Italian Semi-Automatic Coffee Maker Pro is currently available in China for 4,999 yuan.

Xiaomi has not announced plans to launch the machine in other markets yet.
