UGREEN has introduced the LinkStation Pro, its first eGPU dock built around Thunderbolt 5.
The new model follows the LinkStation eGPU dock that launched last December with OCuLink and USB4 support.
The Pro version targets laptops and mini PCs that need desktop graphics power. It arrives at a much higher price than the earlier dock.
Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth and GPU support
UGREEN says the LinkStation Pro offers Thunderbolt 5 speeds of up to 80Gbps, with up to 64Gbps dedicated to the graphics card.
It also supports USB4, Thunderbolt 4, and Thunderbolt 3, so older devices can still connect without reaching full Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth.
The dock works with graphics cards from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel.
UGREEN adds that it can pair with the company's NAS devices to improve Docker container performance, a scenario relevant to the NASync DXP GT series that supports Docker for apps and virtual machines.
Three Thunderbolt 5 ports allow daisy-chaining other Thunderbolt 5 devices. That lets users attach extra accessories through the dock instead of running separate cables to a laptop.
Power comes from a built-in 850W supply with an 80 Plus Gold rating and ATX 3.1 support.
A 12V-2x6 connector is included for newer RTX 40- and 50-series graphics cards that require it.
The dock can deliver up to 140W to a connected laptop through USB Power Delivery 3.1.
Its enclosure fits graphics cards up to 370mm long and uses an aluminum chassis.
The UGREEN Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock is priced at 3,489 yuan, or around $520. The OCuLink/USB4 model costs 2,299 yuan, roughly $340, for comparison.
UGREEN has not announced a release date or confirmed which regions will receive the new dock.
