Xiaomi has started crowdfunding for the Smart Socket 4, a compact plug that turns ordinary appliances into connected ones.
The device is listed on Xiaomi Youpin for 49 yuan, roughly $7, with the campaign ending September 16 at 09:59:59.
After the crowdfunding period, the regular price will be 59 yuan.
The plug is aimed at users who want remote control and energy tracking for older devices at home.
Wi-Fi 6 and local controls
The Smart Socket 4 connects directly over Wi-Fi 6 on the 2.4 GHz band, so no separate gateway is required.
Xiaomi says the combination of MU-MIMO and OFDMA helps keep commands stable when many devices are online at once.
It works with Xiaomi's HyperOS Smart Connect system and appears in the Mi Home app.
From there, users can control the plug alongside other devices and set custom automation scenes.
A high-precision metering chip provides charts for daily, weekly, or monthly power use.
Timer and countdown functions run locally on the plug, so scheduled tasks continue even if the internet drops.
The physical button can also be configured so a double-press starts a countdown and shuts everything off without opening the app.
Safety and design updates
The body measures 52 × 41 × 57.6 mm, which Xiaomi says blocks fewer neighboring outlets on a power strip.
It uses updated Chinese national standard plugs with insulated sleeves.
Protection features include overheating, surge, over-current and overload safeguards, plus charging safeguards and a child lock.
In the app, users can set power limits from 100 W to 2500 W.
