Leaked images have surfaced showing the Fairbuds 2, the next generation of Fairphone's repair-friendly wireless earbuds.
The renders reveal a notable design shift from the original model released in April 2024.
The Fairbuds 2 is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, between October and December.
The leaked photos show the earbuds in green and black color options.
Stem Design and Thicker Case
The most visible change is the addition of stems, moving away from the rounded, stemless look of the first-generation Fairbuds.
The charging case also appears noticeably thicker than before.
This extra bulk has led to speculation about a larger battery compared to the 500 mAh unit in the original case, though official numbers are not yet available.
Exact specifications and pricing for the Fairbuds 2 have not been shared.
Fairphone has indicated the new model will remain modular, but has not detailed which parts will be swappable.
The original Fairbuds allowed users to replace seven different parts, including the batteries in each earbud and the case, silicone rings, tips, and the outer shell, using just a Phillips screwdriver and a prying tool.
The first Fairbuds featured titanium-coated 11 mm drivers, active noise cancellation with wind-noise reduction, six microphones, Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint, IP54 water and sweat resistance, and up to 26 hours of total playtime with the case.
They also earned high repairability scores, including a rare top mark from iFixit.
The Fairbuds 2 is expected to build on that foundation while refining the design to appeal to a broader audience.
