Apple has introduced the AirPods 5, its latest standard earbuds, featuring significantly improved active noise cancellation (ANC).
The new lineup includes two models: a base version and a higher-tier option with a wireless charging case and additional hardware controls.
Enhanced noise cancellation and audio features
Apple says the AirPods 5 remove up to 50% more ambient noise than the AirPods 4 with ANC, thanks to redesigned internal acoustics and updated computational audio algorithms.
They also support transparency mode, adaptive audio, and conversation awareness, which automatically lowers volume when you start speaking.
Deeper Apple Intelligence integration brings the updated Siri to the earbuds, with head gesture responses like nodding to accept or shaking to decline.
A new Live Translation feature works with the iOS Translate app, allowing real-time translations of conversations directly in your ears by pressing both stems.
Pricing and availability
The base AirPods 5 cost $129, while the upgraded version with wireless charging case and on-stem volume swipes is priced at $149.
Both models are available for preorder today and will start shipping on September 18.
