Honor has revealed the camera architecture of its upcoming flagship, the Magic 9 Pro Max, through a Weibo post by Product Line President Fang Fei.
The post includes sample images that demonstrate the phone's periscope telephoto and telephoto converter capabilities.
Dual 200MP sensors with ARRI collaboration
The optical system features a 200-megapixel primary camera and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, both developed with cinema brand ARRI.
Large sensors and expansive physical apertures aim to retain fine textures across various lighting conditions.
The camera pipeline supports ARRI LogC3 gamma curves and 10-bit 4:2:2 APV recording for film-like dynamic range and natural skin tones.
Stabilization and telephoto converters
The main sensor includes 3-degree mechanical gimbal stabilization rated at CIPA 8.0, while the telephoto camera achieves CIPA 7.5.
Honor's TrueShift stabilization system tracks full image frames and runs multimodal AI motion prediction 1,000 times per second.
Two teleconverter accessories were detailed: the G500 offers a 5.88x optical extension, and the compact G200 provides a 2.35x zoom boost.
Sample images show an 85mm shot from the native periscope telephoto, while 500mm and 1000mm shots were taken with the teleconverter attachment.
The Honor Magic 9 series is scheduled to launch on September 28 in China.
