Lindsay Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, is seeking a presidential pardon for his client, who is accused of killing her three young children.
Reddington made the public appeal during an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" with George Stephanopoulos.
The request comes after Clancy's trial in Massachusetts ended in a mistrial last week.
Clancy faces three counts of murder for allegedly strangling her children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan.
She attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.
In the interview, Reddington said, "Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she's been through, and consider a pardon."
However, a presidential pardon is virtually impossible because it applies only to federal crimes, while Clancy's case is at the state level.
During the trial, Clancy pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with her defense arguing she suffered from postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder.
Prosecutors contended that Clancy was in full control of her actions, noting she sent her husband on an errand just before the alleged killings.
The judge declared a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
On Friday, Trump commented on the case, calling it "a shame, a horrible tragedy and a terrible situation."
The mistrial stands, as the State Supreme Court Justice rejected Reddington's motion to overturn it.
