Corey Lewandowski, who served as a 'special government employee' at the Department of Homeland Security, allegedly tried to profit by offering government services to foreign officials, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The report claims Lewandowski approached Qatari and United Arab Emirates officials, offering assistance with visa and other DHS-related matters.
Officials from both countries were reportedly stunned and confused, as they already had standard relationships with other top Trump administration officials.
Both Qatar and the UAE rejected Lewandowski's propositions, the Journal said.
The DHS internal watchdog launched an investigation and found evidence that Lewandowski 'may have been involved in improperly awarding government contracts.'
A representative for Lewandowski categorically denied any wrongdoing, stating he never demanded payment or compensation from any contractor or foreign government while volunteering his time.
Lewandowski served in his DHS role from April 2025 to March 2026, during Kristi Noem's tenure as secretary.
Noem and Lewandowski reportedly developed a close personal relationship, and were recently seen together in Minnesota.
