Ryan Garcia has a warning for women on social media: beware of men claiming to be boxers.
The WBC welterweight champion spoke with TMZ Sports at an open workout for his upcoming fight against Conor Benn.
Garcia weighed in on the Daejon Love scandal, where Love allegedly defrauded 26 women out of $1.3 million.
"It's easier to lie that you're a boxer because literally anybody can be a boxer," Garcia said.
He added that he can spot the fakes: "Yeah, of course. The pathological liars.
Like, 'I won Golden Gloves.' No, you didn't.
I know you didn't."
Garcia expressed disbelief at how women fell for Love's stories, calling it "hilarious" and noting the memes are crazy.
Focus on Benn and Future Fights
With less than a week until his bout with Benn, Garcia dismissed concerns about Benn's physique, saying it's not a bodybuilding competition.
He also looked ahead to a potential unification fight with Teofimo Lopez, who wants the winner of Garcia vs. Benn.
Garcia is confident he will be that winner.
