Xiaomi has opened pre-orders for its latest smart home device, the Mijia Night Light 4.

The new model succeeds the Mijia Night Light 3 from 2024, bringing an upgraded motion detection system.

The key improvement is the integration of a 24GHz radar sensor, which replaces the previous dual-sensing technology.

This radar offers a 120-degree wide-angle detection range and can pick up small movements from up to 3 meters ahead and 2.5 meters to the sides.

When you enter a dark room, the light automatically turns on, and it switches off 10 seconds after you leave.

This radar system is similar to the one used in Xiaomi's Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 for presence detection.

Lighting and battery

The Night Light 4 uses a backlit design that reflects light off the wall, avoiding direct glare.

It offers four brightness levels: 1lm, 3lm, 5lm, and 15lm, suitable for hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets.

Xiaomi states the light is flicker-free and meets RG0 standards for blue-light safety, with a warm light tone for comfort in dark environments.

Powering the device is an 800mAh lithium battery, which can last up to eight months on a single charge at low-power settings.

At the highest brightness, battery life drops to around three months. Charging is via a USB Type-C port.

The Mijia Night Light 4 is available for pre-order as a single pack, with crowdfunding starting on September 9.
