The crowded calendar is partly due to shifted timelines across the industry.

Apple is reportedly moving its high-end launch earlier, while Huawei has pulled the Mate series up from its usual November slot.

Xiaomi is also using September to introduce its in-house Xring O3 chip across two device families.

Apple's event is set for September 9, and it's not just the usual Pro refresh.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will feature the A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, 12GB of RAM, and Apple's own C2 modem.

The bigger story is Apple's first foldable iPhone, rumored to have a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch cover screen.

Xiaomi's Marathon Month: Fold, Pro, and More

Xiaomi is treating September as a launch marathon.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold arrives early in the month with the Xring O3 chip, a 7.6-inch foldable display, a 6,000mAh battery, and a 200MP primary camera.

Later in September, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will debut with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, making Xiaomi the first brand to ship that chipset.

Expect dual 200MP sensors and a faster global rollout than in previous years.

Pre-orders are open in China with configurations up to 16GB+2TB, and it may feature a Kirin 9050 Pro chip and a redesigned hinge.

The Mate 90 series is also moving up to September, reportedly with a new Kirin chip using a 'Tau' design that increases transistor density by over 50%.

The Pro Max may bring back dual periscope telephoto lenses with 10x optical zoom.

iQOO is expected to unveil its 16 series in China, continuing its performance-first approach.

Other brands like Vivo, Oppo, Honor, and Poco are also lining up releases, making September a month where spec sheets will be compared side by side.
