Vivo has officially confirmed that its X500 series will launch in China this September, introducing three models: the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max.
The announcement also reveals that Vivo is skipping the X400 branding, moving directly from the X300 generation to X500.

The number four is often avoided in parts of East Asia, including China, due to its association with death, a practice known as tetraphobia.
Vivo is positioning the upcoming generation around major camera and video upgrades, with a particular focus on cinema-grade video capabilities.
Camera and video highlights
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao revealed that the X500 series is being developed as a major imaging upgrade, with video receiving particular attention.
The Pro models will feature a Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera, jointly defined by Vivo's BluePrint imaging team and Sony.

The camera uses the new BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor, a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch unit designed around high dynamic range.
The sensor can deliver up to 17EV of dynamic range, which Vivo describes as the highest in the industry.
This capability is also brought to video, allowing each frame to retain a wider range of highlights and shadows, particularly in challenging backlit scenes.
The X500 Pro series will support 4K 240fps slow-motion recording and 4K 120fps HDR video with direct HDR output.

The main camera supports 3° OIS with gimbal-level stabilization, while CIPA 7.0 professional stabilization is also part of the setup.
Vivo is targeting steadier footage without requiring a dedicated gimbal, with the 3° OIS system specifically highlighted for the Pro Max.

According to the leak, the X500 series carries the internal codename 'Thanos 500' and will retain a strong focus on both photography and video.

The lineup is also expected to inherit the 200-megapixel 'Thanos' telephoto camera from the Vivo X300 Ultra, using a custom large-format 200MP HP0 sensor and periscope lens.
