Carmine Agnello, grandson of the late mob boss John Gotti, will spend just over a year in prison, with his release date moved up to September 2, 2027.
The federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed the new date, reducing his original 15-month sentence to nearly 13 months.
Agnello pleaded guilty in 2024 to a $1.1 million wire fraud scheme tied to COVID-19 relief funds.
He surrendered to authorities on Monday and is now held at the Federal Correctional Institution Fairton in New Jersey.
The reduced sentence comes as his mother, Victoria Gotti, faces severe health complications from kidney disease and urgently needs a transplant.
Agnello had hoped to donate a kidney to his mother before starting his sentence, but the surgery was postponed twice due to her medical condition.
Initially, he was to report to prison on July 20, but a judge granted an extension for the donation.
However, Victoria developed an infection, and the procedure was shelved.
A second attempt also failed because Victoria could not be medically cleared for surgery.
On Monday, his attorney Robert Beltrani filed for a third extension, but the judge denied it, only postponing the report time by two hours.
Sources close to the Gotti family say Agnello was genuinely trying to help his mother and was not attempting to evade his prison sentence.
