Carmine Agnello, grandson of the late mob boss John Gotti, has reported to federal prison after a judge rejected his request for another delay in his surrender date.
The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Agnello turned himself in on Monday and is now housed at FCI Fairton in New Jersey.
Agnello was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty in September 2024 to a $1.1 million wire fraud scheme involving COVID-19 relief loans.
He had previously received an extension to his original July 20 report date to allow him to donate a kidney to his ailing mother, Victoria Gotti.
However, Victoria developed a serious infection just before the scheduled surgery on August 3, forcing its cancellation.
The judge had given Agnello until August 10 to complete the donation, with a possible surrender extension to September 18 if successful, but Victoria was not medically cleared.
Agnello's lawyer, Robert Beltrani, filed for a third extension on Monday, but the judge denied it, only postponing the report time by two hours.
Sources close to the Gotti family described the situation as emotional, noting the infection was unforeseen and that Agnello genuinely wanted to help his mother.
They emphasized that Agnello was not trying to evade his sentence but hoped to undergo the surgery before reporting to prison.
