Meta is expanding its subscription offerings across its major social platforms.
The company has started rolling out new “Plus” plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, marking a shift beyond its traditional ad-supported model.

Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are priced at $3.99 per month. WhatsApp Plus costs slightly less at $2.99 monthly.
These plans were tested in select regions earlier this year and are now being introduced more broadly.
What Subscribers Get
For Instagram and Facebook, the paid tiers focus on Stories and profile customization. Subscribers can keep Stories visible beyond the usual 24-hour limit.
They also get more detailed viewer analytics, exclusive “Super Hearts” for reactions, and the ability to view Stories anonymously in some cases.

Additionally, users can post content without it being heavily pushed into followers' feeds.
WhatsApp Plus emphasizes personalization with custom themes, extra stickers, exclusive notification sounds, and additional pinned chats.
Meta emphasized that core features remain free. The subscriptions are designed as optional extras for power users who want more tools and customization.
The company plans to bundle these services under a broader “Meta One” subscription strategy. This future offering may include paid AI features, creator tools, and business-focused plans.

Meta has already tested premium AI capabilities with usage limits tied to higher-priced subscriptions.
The move comes as Meta invests heavily in AI infrastructure. Relying almost entirely on advertising revenue has become challenging as operating costs rise.
Paid subscriptions provide an additional revenue stream and help Meta compete with platforms that already offer premium memberships.
It remains to be seen whether regular users will pay monthly fees for extra Story controls and app customization.

However, after years of keeping its apps mostly free, Meta appears serious about building a larger subscription ecosystem.
