In a comment on the Disney Wizards Series Instagram, DeLuise called the revival a "missed opportunity," suggesting that bringing back all the original wizards could have improved the show's fate.
His comment received over 2,000 likes from fans who shared his sentiment.
The revival, titled "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place," ran for three seasons with a total of 35 episodes. The third season concluded with a four-episode finale released Tuesday night.
Several original cast members, including Jennifer Stone (Harper Finkle) and Gregg Sulkin (Mason Greyback), returned for the series.
DeLuise had a significant role in the original show, appearing in 106 episodes and two "Wizards of Waverly Place" movies.
