Motorola has begun rolling out the Android 17 beta to users who previously signed up for beta testing.
The high-end Motorola Signature was among the first to receive it, but the update is now expanding to mid-range models like the Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Fusion, and Edge 60 Pro.

The beta update comes with a hefty download size of around 5GB. The official changelog is sparse, but enthusiasts on social media have shared their hands-on impressions.
Key Changes in the Android 17 Beta
A Moto Edge 60 Pro user on Reddit listed several notable changes.
These include a new Dynamic Island, revamped quick tiles with adjustable sizes, new icons for Wi-Fi, cell tower, and battery, and a redesigned volume interface.
Additional tweaks include new customization options, an updated settings menu, improved haptics, and a new notification management system.
The phone may also feel warmer than usual, and a new Moto AI assistant named Qira debuts.

Another user, Fanboy_Moto on X, provided more detailed observations. The haptics feel significantly different, especially when swiping notifications.
The status bar gets new icons, and home screen icons are now tinted.
A new Classic Control Center appears to merge the notification panel with Quick Settings shortcuts.
Live Updates have also been upgraded, moving from the left side of the status bar to the camera cutout in the middle, similar to Apple's Dynamic Island.
It now supports most day-to-day apps.
UI and Lock Screen Refinements
The HelloUI App Drawer has seen changes: no MotoAI in the search bar, better background blur, folders now use a 3×3 grid instead of 2×2, a create folder button, removed app titles, and all apps are tinted.

The lock screen receives new clock faces with expanded typography and style options, though a depth effect is missing.
Smaller but meaningful improvements include a three-finger swipe down to take screenshots (previously a three-finger hold) and a three-finger swipe up for split-screen.
Motorola has also addressed the overlapping network icons issue to some extent, though it still needs work. The Settings page UI now resembles Pixel UI.
Other spotted features include Landscape Stereo, the Qira AI assistant, Enhanced HDR Brightness, and Battery health.
The beta is currently available on a few devices, with more expected to follow.

Users report the build is stable with no critical issues, so a stable release may not be far off.
