Two cordless vacuums dominate the conversation in 2026: Dyson's V15 Detect and Xiaomi's G30 Max. One is a premium flagship, the other a budget contender.

But does the cheaper option actually compete?

We put them side by side to see how far cordless technology has come and whether Xiaomi's value proposition holds up against Dyson's reputation.

Suction Power: Xiaomi Claims an Edge

The G30 Max boasts up to 280 air watts, translating to roughly 25,000 Pa of suction.

The V15 Detect sits at 230-240 air watts, depending on the version. On paper, Xiaomi leads.

However, real-world performance depends on more than raw numbers.

Dyson's Digital Motorbar head adjusts to floor type, and its cyclone system generates 100,000g of centrifugal force, maintaining suction as the bin fills.

Xiaomi counters with a 14-cone cyclone setup and three modes: Eco, Auto, and Turbo.

Battery Life: Xiaomi Goes the Distance

The G30 Max runs up to 90 minutes in Eco mode, dropping to around 70 minutes with the motorized brush bar.

The V15 Detect offers up to 60 minutes on a single charge, with swappable batteries available for extended sessions.

Xiaomi's larger 4,000mAh battery is designed to outlast the older G11 by 50%. For large homes or multi-floor cleaning, that extra 30 minutes is significant.

Smart Features and Filtration

Dyson's V15 Detect uses a piezo sensor to count particles and displays results on an LCD screen.

A green laser on the Fluffy head reveals dust on hard floors that's otherwise invisible.

Xiaomi's G30 Max has its own dirt-detection system: a colored line on the digital display shows real-time dust levels in Auto mode, and suction adjusts automatically.

An LED light near the brush head helps in dim areas.

Filtration is comparable: Xiaomi's five-stage system claims to trap 99.98% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, matching Dyson's HEPA-level performance.

Design and Attachments

The G30 Max includes seven attachments, such as an anti-tangle brush bar, sofa brush, and pet brush, stored on a wall-mounted stand.

Dyson's V15 Detect Plus includes similar tools, but lacks on-board storage for all attachments.

Weight is similar: the G30 Max is about 4.5kg, while the V15 Detect's main unit is roughly 3.08kg, depending on attachments.

Price: The Deciding Factor

The G30 Max launched at around $324 in the US and €400 in Europe. The V15 Detect typically retails between $650 and $800, rarely dropping below $500.

That's a significant gap.

For less than half the price, Xiaomi offers comparable suction, longer battery life, similar filtration, and a decent attachment set.

Verdict

If you trust Dyson's build quality and enjoy the laser dust reveal and particle counter, the V15 Detect remains a solid choice.

But for value, the G30 Max is hard to beat.

It matches or exceeds the V15 on key specs, runs longer, and costs a fraction of the price.
