Leslie, the best friend of Ian Diaz, is speaking out against the Netflix documentary "A Toxic Love Story," accusing the filmmakers of a bait and switch that made her appear as a lovesick fool.
She claims the documentary ignored crucial evidence and twisted her words, leading to online harassment from trolls who think she's blind to Ian's crimes.
Ian is currently serving a decade in prison for a cyberstalking plot involving his former wife Angela Connell Diaz and ex-girlfriend Michelle Hadley.
Leslie told TMZ, "I expected them to do the research on all they heard from all those filmed for this doc.
They were given so much information -- and then decided to abort the truth and ignore all the actual evidence."
She also alleges that the crew used only a brief snippet from a two-day interview, which was then dismissed by a cop involved in the investigation.
Regarding Ian's refusal to participate, Leslie says the story needs nuance.
He was willing, but the filmmakers wanted to interview him over phone calls, which would have used up his limited prison phone time.
Since he has a wife and child, he couldn't afford that.
Despite the backlash, Leslie remains supportive of Ian, stating, "If this documentary would've given a robust report of the actual evidence involved in his conviction, more people would be speaking about the inconsistencies and the flat-out agenda to put him behind bars."
Leslie had previously written an emotional letter to the judge asking for leniency during sentencing. Netflix has not yet responded to requests for comment.
