OnePlus has confirmed that its next major OS upgrade will be based on ColorOS 17 instead of OxygenOS 17.
The rollout is expected to begin in the coming weeks, but many devices will not be eligible.
The OxygenOS 16 update, based on Android 16, marked the last major upgrade for several OnePlus devices.
As a result, they will not receive future major updates, including ColorOS 17.
List of OnePlus devices not eligible for ColorOS 17
The following devices received OxygenOS 16 but will not get ColorOS 17:
- OnePlus 11R
- OnePlus 10R
- OnePlus 10T
- OnePlus 10 Pro
- OnePlus Nord 3
- OnePlus Nord CE 4
- OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite
- OnePlus Pad
- OnePlus Pad Go
If your device is on this list, it may be time to consider an upgrade.
While security patches will continue for a while, you won't get the newest features, visual upgrades, or AI capabilities that come with major updates.
Some excellent OnePlus phones promise up to four major OS upgrades.
Most recent flagships and some Nord models are covered, so you don't need to spend a premium for long-term software support.
