Redmi has unveiled a new color option for the upcoming K100 Pro, called Glowing Firefly.
The phone features a unique glow-in-the-dark rear panel that can be used as a canvas for light painting.
The company teased the device ahead of its August 11 launch in China. This follows the earlier reveal of the Cabernet Red variant for the K100 Pro Max.
Glow-in-the-Dark Design
The Glowing Firefly color has a fluorescent green finish that changes appearance depending on lighting.
Redmi placed a special luminescent material between the glass back and the green ink layer.
After absorbing light from a flashlight or other bright source, the back panel glows in the dark. Users can create temporary glowing patterns on it.
During the day, the phone has a translucent green finish. The glow effect becomes visible in low-light conditions.
The metal frame and camera island are also matched with the same green color. This gives the phone a more uniform look.
In addition to Glowing Firefly, the K100 Pro will also be available in a silver edition.
Display and Hardware
Redmi reiterated that the K100 Pro will feature a 6.59-inch flat OLED display using new M11 light-emitting material.
The panel adopts the company's "Super Pixel" full RGB sub-pixel arrangement.
It supports a 185Hz refresh rate, a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
Redmi claims the new green light-emitting material improves luminous efficiency by 20 percent over the previous generation.
The K100 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset, paired with an AI gaming display chip.
Previous teasers revealed an AnTuTu V11 benchmark score of 4.095 million.
Other expected features include a 200-megapixel rear camera, an over 8,000mAh battery with 50W wireless charging, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, IP-rated water resistance, and telephoto macro photography support.
