Priced at Rs 1,22,990 (~$1,290) in India, it aims to offer a balance of productivity, entertainment, and AI capabilities.
We spent time with the laptop, running benchmarks and using it for daily tasks, to see how it performs in real-world scenarios.
Design and Build
The Vivobook S16 sports a clean, understated design that fits well in professional and casual settings.
Our review unit came in Cool Silver, but a Matte Grey option is also available.
Although the lid is made of plastic rather than aluminum, it feels sturdy and well-constructed. The matte finish resists fingerprints, keeping the laptop looking tidy throughout the day.
Weighing 1.7kg and measuring 15.9mm to 17.9mm thick, it's not the lightest 16-inch laptop, but it's still portable enough for daily commuting.
The minimalist Asus branding adds to the elegant exterior, while the interior makes good use of the larger chassis with a full-sized keyboard, numpad, and a large touchpad.
The 180-degree hinge allows the display to lie flat, which is handy for collaboration.
OLED Display
The standout feature of the Vivobook S16 is its 16-inch OLED display.
It offers a WUXGA (1920 × 1200) resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing extra vertical space for productivity tasks.
Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and contrast is excellent, as expected from OLED.
Asus rates the panel at 95% DCI-P3 coverage and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, making it great for entertainment and light creative work.
The refresh rate is limited to 60Hz, but that's acceptable for a productivity-focused laptop.
Brightness peaks at 300 nits, sufficient for indoor use, and the anti-glare coating plus TÜV-certified low blue light technology reduce eye strain during long sessions.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The full-sized backlit keyboard includes a dedicated numpad, which is beneficial for spreadsheet users and those who work with numbers.
