LeBron James passed on a reunion with his hometown Cavaliers to join the Philadelphia 76ers, and former NBA star Charles Oakley has a message for Cleveland fans: get over it.
Oakley, a Cleveland native, spoke with TMZ Sports at the 17th Annual Amazon Kids Back-to-School Fashion Show in New York City on Thursday.
He was asked about James, 41, deciding to join a fourth franchise in pursuit of more championships.
The former Knicks great defended James's move, saying his late-career decision should be admired and that he remains a role model for young kids.
As for how Northeast Ohio fans should handle the rejection, Oakley suggested they look at their current roster.
According to him, that will explain why James chose not to return for a third stint with the Wine and Gold.
Some supporters felt betrayed after weeks of speculation, but Oakley sees it differently, placing the blame on the organization itself.
