Former NBA star Paul Pierce is legally opposing his ex-partner Princess Santiago's request for $30,000 per month in child support, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Pierce also contests her demand for an additional $100,000 in legal fees. He argues that his income is set to decrease significantly this year.
In his filing, Pierce notes he hasn't played in the NBA since 2017 and no longer earns at his former level.
His career earnings exceeded $200 million.
He states his income has steadily declined, and his employment with Fox Sports 1 ended in 2021.
He will continue receiving payments from the network until September 2026, after which his income will drop by nearly half.
His reported income for 2025 was $1.5 million.
Pierce also highlights his "substantial ongoing financial obligations," including supporting four other children.
He currently pays $20,000 per month in spousal support and $24,000 per month in child support.
He is willing to provide support for their newborn son, King Pierce, but requests joint legal and physical custody, while Santiago seeks sole custody.
Pierce has been voluntarily paying $5,000 per month in support.
He points out that Santiago earns over $400,000 annually and does not have limited financial resources as she claims.
He also alleges that Santiago frequently sends him long text messages about unrelated topics and harasses his girlfriend.
Pierce proposes paying around $4,145 per month, a figure far lower than her request.
He dismisses her claims about his personal life and alcohol use, stating, "I live a quiet and stable life with my girlfriend.
I do not drink to excess."
