French DJ Kavinsky, best known for the electro hit "Nightcall," has died at age 50.
The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed that Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, was found dead at his home in Paris on Tuesday.
An investigation is underway, and the cause of death has not yet been released.
According to French newspaper Le Figaro, a police source indicated he may have suffered a stroke.
The BBC reported that Kavinsky had been complaining of headaches in recent days.
French culture minister Catherine Pégard paid tribute, stating, "Danceable and nostalgic at the same time, his music will continue to resonate across borders and different generations."
Kavinsky's signature track "Nightcall," released in 2010, was inspired by 1980s synth-pop.
The song gained widespread fame after being used in the opening credits of the 2011 film "Drive" starring Ryan Gosling, and was later featured in the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He released his debut EP "Teddy Boy" in 2006 and opened for Daft Punk during their 2007 tour.
In 2013, The Weeknd collaborated with him on the track "Odd Look."
