Evan Rachel Wood has finally explained why she won't be returning for 'Practical Magic 2.'

The sequel to the beloved 1998 film starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock was announced last year.

At the time, Wood said she had been dropped despite expressing interest in reprising her role.

Speaking at the 'Spider-Man' premiere Monday night, Wood revealed that the upcoming film takes a different direction from the original book.

That change meant her character was not included.

In the first movie, Wood played the daughter of Sandra Bullock's character, a widowed witch and single mother.

Despite the snub, Wood took the high road and wished the film success.

She did hint, however, that she felt the filmmakers were too clever in leaving her out.

Wood is not the only original star missing from the sequel. Aidan Quinn, who played Sandra Bullock's love interest Gary Hallett, is also not in the film.
