Samsung has officially unveiled its first Ultra-branded book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, at the Unpacked 2026 event in London.
The company positions the device as its ultimate productivity machine and the new flagship of its foldable lineup.

The "Ultra" name, typically associated with slab phones, now represents Samsung's most advanced devices across categories.
Display and design
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a 6.5-inch FHD+ cover display protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.
When unfolded, users get an 8-inch QXGA+ inner screen with Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology.
The inner display includes an anti-reflective coating and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
Both screens support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for smooth multitasking and media consumption.
Samsung introduced a new Flex Titanium screen structure that reduces the crease. The hinge now features magnetic assist for smoother operation.

The phone measures 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs approximately 215g.
Camera system
The rear camera setup includes a 200MP main sensor with 2x optical zoom, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera.
Dual 10MP front cameras are available on both displays.
New software features include improved HDR in 200MP shots, enhanced low-light performance, 8K video recording, and APV encoding support.
Performance and battery
The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.

Memory and storage options start at 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and go up to 16GB RAM with 1TB storage.
The battery uses silicon-carbon technology, increasing capacity from 4,400mAh in the Fold 7 to 5,000mAh while maintaining similar dimensions.
Charging supports 45W wired and 20W wireless speeds.
Samsung also improved thermal management and added an efficient dual-path charging system.
Software and availability
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra ships with One UI 9, featuring expanded Galaxy AI capabilities powered by Google Gemini.
Color options include Twilight Purple, Rock Gray, Cloud White, and an online-exclusive Pine Green. Pre-orders are now open, with shipping starting August 7.

Pricing on Samsung's official website is as follows: 12GB+256GB for $2,099, 12GB+512GB for $2,299, and 16GB+1TB for $2,699.
