Samsung has officially announced its next-generation wearables: the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9.

Both models are powered by Qualcomm's new 3nm Penta-Core Snapdragon Wear Elite (SDW6100) chipset, offering improved performance and efficiency.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Rugged and feature-packed

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is Samsung's premium rugged smartwatch, competing directly with the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

It comes in a single 47mm size with a shock-resistant titanium casing that is 12% thinner than its predecessor.

The display is a 1.52-inch Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

Inside, the battery capacity has been increased by 35% to 800mAh.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Ultra 2 introduces a Trail Run mode that monitors elevation and terrain impact. A Nutrition Alert system estimates sweat loss to provide hydration guidance.

The watch is dive-ready with IP69K, 10ATM, and EN13319 certifications. It includes an Ultra 2 Diving app that automatically tracks depth, dive duration, and water temperature.

Galaxy Watch 9: Everyday health companion

The Galaxy Watch 9 focuses on daily health tracking and comfort.

It is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes with an aluminum case and a display that peaks at 3,000 nits.

Battery capacities are 390mAh for the 40mm model and 445mAh for the 44mm version. Both watches run on Wear OS 7 with Samsung's One UI 9 Watch interface.

Health features powered by the BioActive sensor include FDA-cleared Sleep Apnea detection, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load tracking, and a Hearing feature that monitors environmental noise exposure.

The Ultra 2 comes with 2GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the Watch 9 offers 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Pricing and availability

Preorders for both watches start today, with general availability on August 7. In the US, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 (LTE) is priced at $699.

The Galaxy Watch 9 starts at $379 for the 40mm Bluetooth variant, while the LTE version starts at $430.

In Europe, the Ultra 2 costs €749, and the Watch 9 starts at €409. In India, the Watch Ultra 2 is priced at Rs.

69,999, and the 40mm Bluetooth Watch 9 is Rs. 38,999, with regional pre-order discounts of Rs.

5,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively.

Customers who purchase either watch will receive a 60-day trial for Strava and a two-month trial for iFIT.
