Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Flip 8, its latest clamshell foldable smartphone, alongside the Fold 8 series.
The new device features a larger cover screen, a slimmer body, and a strong focus on system-level AI capabilities, though the upgrades come with a higher price tag.
Specifications and Design
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 measures 6.1mm thick when unfolded and weighs 180 grams.
Its internal display is a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED panel, while the external FlexWindow cover display has been expanded to 4.1 inches.
The device retains an IP48 water and dust resistance rating and features an upgraded hinge mechanism housed within an Armor Aluminum frame.
Under the hood, most markets—including India—get the Exynos 2600 chipset, while select regions receive the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
All variants come with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
The battery capacity is 4,300 mAh, supporting 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, plus a 10-megapixel front-facing camera on the internal display.
Samsung has added a Camcorder Grip interface that uses the folding hinge for handheld video recording, along with a Horizontal Lock feature to stabilize footage during movement.
Software and AI Features
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 runs on Android 17 with One UI 9 and includes deeper Gemini Intelligence integration.
The cover screen now supports Now Brief for notifications, reminders, and alerts, and voice-controlled actions across over 40 apps.
To address privacy concerns, Samsung introduced an AI Assistant Activity Dashboard, allowing users to monitor background AI processes, review automated actions, and manage app permissions.
The device also comes with a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of cloud storage.
Pricing and Availability
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 start today, with shipping beginning on August 8.
The 256GB model is priced at $1,199, while the 512GB variant costs $1,399.
In Europe, prices are €1,299 and €1,499, respectively, and in India, they are Rs. 1,24,999 and Rs.
1,44,999.
The phone is available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink, with a Mint variant exclusive to Samsung's website.
