'Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior' Actor Mike Preston Dies at 93

Actor Mike Preston, best known for his role as Pappagallo in the 1981 film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, has died at the age of 93.

Preston passed away on June 8 in Florida, according to his wife Josie. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Career Highlights

Born in London, England in 1938, Preston began his acting career with the 1969 film Stoney.

His most iconic role came in 1981 when he played Pappagallo, the charismatic leader of a settler group trying to bring peace to the post-apocalyptic wasteland in The Road Warrior, starring Mel Gibson.

In 1983, he appeared in the sci-fi movie Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn as Tim Thomerson.

On television, Preston played Alec Shaw in eight episodes of the 1984 series Hot Pursuit.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he made guest appearances on shows including Ellen, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Shadow Chasers, Outlaws, Alien Nation, Dark Justice, Highlander, and Law & Order.

Preston also lent his voice to the 2002 video game The Getaway.

He is survived by his wife Josie and their two daughters.
