Amy Fisher, known as the 'Long Island Lolita,' is back in the spotlight after her eldest son was charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
Brett Anthony Bellera, 25, is accused of causing the death of his pet cat, Reaper, in December 2024.
The incident occurred inside a South Florida apartment.
Investigators say a forensic exam determined the cat suffered extreme pain from 'involuntary heat exposure.'
The injuries are consistent with microwave radiation, immersion in hot water, or exposure to hot water vapor.
Authorities have not publicly concluded which method caused the fatal injuries.
Bellera's girlfriend, Jennifer Armenti, is also charged in connection with the case.
Police were alerted after a friend of the couple reported the cat's death.
Animal control found the cat's body on the back patio inside a laundry basket, surrounded by a large amount of blood.
Armenti allegedly told investigators she found Reaper on the bathroom floor and initially thought the animal had been poisoned by household cleaning products.
Bellera was already in custody on unrelated cases when he was formally charged. Armenti was arrested separately this week in Miramar, Florida.
Amy Fisher became a household name in 1992 when, at age 17, she shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her then-lover Joey Buttafuoco.
Mary Jo survived but suffered permanent facial paralysis. Fisher served several years in prison before being released on parole.
Bellera's father is retired NYPD officer Louis Bellera. His parents are divorced.
