An explosion erupted outside a major New York City federal building Monday morning, prompting a swift response from law enforcement who took a suspect into custody.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM at 26 Federal Plaza, where an incendiary device detonated on the sidewalk, releasing a thick cloud of white smoke.

Video footage shows people scrambling for cover as officers rushed out of the building, some with guns drawn, and surrounded a man before wrestling him to the ground.

Law enforcement sources confirmed that an individual deployed the device and was taken into custody. The FBI's New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the investigation.
