A mass shooting at a Canadian street festival has left two people dead and four others seriously injured, police said.
The incident occurred Saturday night at Toronto's Salsa on St. Clair festival, an annual Latin event that attracts thousands of attendees.

Toronto Police Service Deputy Chief Frank Barredo stated that initial fears of an active shooter were unfounded. However, investigators confirmed an exchange of gunfire between multiple shooters.

Two firearms were recovered at the scene. Barredo noted that a total of six people were shot, with two dying at the festival.

The four injured victims were taken to local hospitals in serious condition.
