Indian smartphone maker Lava has begun its marketing push ahead of a planned entry into the United Kingdom, taking direct aim at market leader Samsung.

The company set up a dedicated social media account for UK users, with a bio that reads “Escape the SAMe cycle.”

The highlighted word “SAM” is a clear reference to Samsung, which holds a significant share of the UK smartphone market.

Lava has posted twice so far.

One post shows a cluttered screen of Samsung app icons with a caption implying the mess is “obviously” not yours.

Another features a phone with a triple rear camera and the line “Buying new shouldn’t feel so… SAMe.”

The UK will be Lava’s first major market outside South Asia as it aims to build what Managing Director Sunil Raina calls a genuinely global Indian brand.

The company previously sold phones in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America but withdrew from those regions to focus on India.

Currently, Lava exports to Nepal and Bangladesh, where it holds meaningful market share.

For the UK, the company plans to stick with its proven pricing strategy from India—keeping phones around the £300 mark rather than competing in the flagship segment.

Raina has said Lava sees no need to chase the premium segment immediately, as its growth in India has come almost entirely from mid-range devices.

The company has not confirmed which specific model will launch first in the UK.

Lava recently announced the Agni 4 in India, featuring a Dimensity chipset and an on-device AI assistant.

Its budget-focused Yuva Star 3 also reflects the same value-first approach at a lower price point.
