Apple's ultra-slim iPhone Air turned heads with its thin design, but early users often complained about limited battery life and basic camera features.

Now, supply chain leaks suggest the company is planning a major hardware overhaul for the next model.

According to industry insider Digital Chat Station, the second-generation iPhone Air will bring several internal improvements to fix these issues.

Here are the four key upgrades expected.

Expanded Battery Capacity

The original iPhone Air's small battery was its biggest drawback.

Apple plans to increase the cell capacity from 3,149mAh to about 3,500mAh, an 11 percent boost that should improve daily endurance.

Dual-Lens Rear Camera System

The first model only had a single 48-megapixel Wide lens. The new version will add an ultra-wide lens, giving users more flexibility for photography.

Next-Gen 2nm A20 Chip

The iPhone Air 2 will move from the A19 Pro to Apple's upcoming A20 chip, built on a 2nm process.

Thinner Display Packaging

This makes the display assembly thinner, freeing up internal space.
